This Jolly Season
08/12/2012 § 5 Comments
This time of year I see green and red food, Christmas trees and ornaments. I want to bake festive treats but I’m teased about it because apparently I take too long when it comes to cooking. Lately, I’ve been listening to a bunch of Christmas songs, including Michael Bublé’s versions of “Let it Snow” and “Winter Wonderland.” These songs make me joyous during this jolly season. Leading up to Christmas day and New Year’s, I’m looking forward to seeing decorated houses, thoughtful shoppers and perhaps some snow!

Shortbread Cookie
Shortbread cookies have a unique flavor. This one has depressions on it, reminding me of a strawberry. There is a pie crust texture at the top. Roughly, it was a triangle before I bit some of the cookie off. There could be someone right now, like me, eating shortbread cookies on the other side of the world.
I see so many people documenting their travels to different countries. I’m grateful to them because they share pictures of where they went. Then I look at the photos and I imagine what it is like to be there even though I am not there. They take such beautiful pictures of buildings, beaches, lakes, mountains, trains, food, etc. And it’s not just the travelers, but people that live in those different countries who show us how awesome their country is through shots of their daily lives.

Changing Leaves
14/10/2012 § 8 Comments
The trees nearby are shedding their leaves and they are falling into my backyard. Parts of the leaves look like a banana with spots and the rest look like mixed colors in a painting. The leaf on the left has some green blending in with the yellow, creating a lighter green than the dark green on the other leaf.
It’s getting colder, and since there are so many trees around, I see a whole lot of leaves breaking away from branches and settling down onto the ground. They are either still changing color and healthy or rotting, dry and reddish-brown. I would sweep them into one pile but it’s raining. That’s another thing, the rain. It lowers my mood–except sometimes, I want to run around in the rain, especially if it’s pouring. The droplets come from the clouds to you, so it’s like touching a cloud.
